Ashley Shears, LMT, CMT, BCTMB
Hi! My name is Ashley Shears and I’m a licensed and certified massage therapist. My goal is to help you heal your body, mind, and soul in a holistic manner by combining clinical and therapeutic approaches in a super cool and unique way.
Having had a low back injury in college, two shoulder injuries from work, and crippling anxiety after the loss of my parents, I know what it’s like to live in pain. Everything I teach you in your sessions has helped me along my healing journey and I’m confident it will help you as well!
My main goal is to help you “heel” your body, mind, and soul so you can live the life you want in a healthier, more balanced way.
My drive for a balanced body and a healthy lifestyle comes from years of hospital visits watching loved ones battle illnesses in addition to my personal journey of managing multiple injuries.
A Deeper Look Into My Experience & Clientele
My clientele ranges from athletes (recreational and professional) to those managing chronic health conditions, stress, injuries, and beyond.
I strive to show my clients compassion which influenced my previous business name, The Compassionate Touch, in my former state of Kentucky where I was voted Best Massage Therapist four years in a row (2016-2019) by Expertise.com before moving to California.
I’ve practiced massage since 2009 where I specialized in traditional deep tissue massage, injury rehabilitation, range of motion/stretching, and myofascial release techniques. After experiencing two repetitive-use injuries I was introduced to barefoot massage and have never looked back.
I now specialize in the barefoot modalities, Myofascial Ashiatsu and Sarga Bodywork, and am an instructor with The Center for Barefoot Massage where I teach other massage therapists how to save their bodies and career with barefoot massage.
I’m also a Yoga Tune Up® instructor. This corrective exercise approach identifies over and underused muscles to help clients gain better awareness and alignment within their bodies.
I love working with clients who strive for a healthier, more balanced life. Whether you’re trying to manage stress, rehabilitate an injury, or reduce symptoms of a chronic issue, I want to work with you!
Why choose to work with me as your therapist?
Experience
I have a lifetime of experience, knowledge, skill, and training in the health and wellness fields. Massage therapy, and particularly barefoot massage therapy, requires an extensive amount of training and practice along with a complex working knowledge of human anatomy & medical conditions that may affect the musculoskeletal system.
Education, Certifications, and Affiliations
Prior to my massage therapy career, I obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Safety. I’m certified by the state of California (CAMTC #78231) and have also maintained my massage license by the state of Kentucky (KY #110677).
I graduated massage school in 2009 and have been a certified barefoot massage practitioner since 2015.
In 2022, I completed my training as an instructor with the Center for Barefoot Massage where I now teach other massage therapists how to save their bodies and extend their careers in the field.
I am a certified member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and am also board certified (BCTMB) by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
I hold specialized training as a certified Yoga Tune Up® instructor and have obtained additional certifications in medical massage, prenatal massage, Integrative Reflexology®, and am also a Reiki Master practitioner.
Continuing Education
Every two years I complete a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education by a National Board Certified provider. As a licensed professional, I’m dedicated to providing you with the best experience possible, every time.
